In a wellness massage, a lot of oil is used. Friction and pressure are generated and the muscles are massaged. The physical aspect is clearly in the foreground here. With a classic massage, you usually come to the masseur with a clear idea or a specific problem (from a medical point of view). A treatment, on the other hand, includes not only the physical, but also the heart or the feeling. The body is often the reflection of the soul; emotional stress is often visible. It can sometimes happen that emotions come up. After all, as the saying goes: a massage is balm for body and soul.
That all depends. In the case of tension, you should have a massage two to three times a week, over a period of three to four weeks. In most cases, this period is sufficient to alleviate symptoms and establish a certain status quo. After that, it is enough to treat yourself to a massage from a qualified masseur every 10 or 14 days to maintain this status quo.
In the case of a wellness massage with the aim of simply switching off or to recharge your batteries, the temporal frequency is of course not so decisive. It is difficult for many people today to tear themselves out of their world of thoughts. Too much is on your mind and you have trouble focusing on the here and now. Here, for example, an Ayurvedic massage is a special experience.
Quite simply: trained staff. In Austria, for example, there are three different types of masseurs: (1) commercial, (2) medical and (3) therapeutic masseurs. When it comes to wellness massages, they are usually associated with commercial masseurs. Qualified specialists also ensure that the guest gets top quality at a fair price - after all, you want to know that you are in good hands. In the case of real pain, however, it is imperative to consult a doctor before seeking a massage (this is also important from a purely legal point of view).
A good example of a full body massage is the so-called Thai massage. Here the masseur goes deep into the structures, stretches and massages the tissue. In this type of massage, you lie on the floor, fully clothed, unlike in traditional massages; therefore no oil is used. The massage starts on the legs with different pressure techniques and goes deep into the tissue. The masseur then works his way up. It is by no means about triggering pain; Rather, you work on the so-called Sen lines – the energy channels in the body. The aim is to stimulate the natural flow of energy again and to create a harmonious harmony. It is about opening dam walls and locks in the body. The causes of energy blockages can be physical.
Oils can have nourishing properties. St. John's wort oil, for example, helps with sunburn; Arnica boosts the metabolism in the muscles. Thus, certain oils offer care on the one hand and the effect of the plants on the other. However, it is important to use natural oils as they do not clog pores. Paraffin oil, on the other hand, which is derived from petroleum, should not be used, for example. In natural products there are also no parabens (chemicals in cosmetic products) and are therefore much better tolerated by the skin. In addition, parabens can have a gene-modifying effect. We must be aware of one thing: Ultimately, every cosmetic product gets under the skin.
As already mentioned, the goal of a wellness massage is relaxation and switching off. When muscles have worked, more metabolic end products accumulate in the body and these have to be removed again. A classic massage, such as the back and leg massage, supports the regeneration of the tissue. It's about doing something good for your muscles. Therefore, training and massage are an ideal match.
This is a perfect couple. From the classic massage directly to the sauna, it just fits. Here, too, it depends – as is so often the case – on the type of massage. After a hot stone massage, for example, you should avoid going to the sauna afterwards because there is a risk of overheating. The tissue is stimulated in a completely different way and you run the risk of overtaxing your body. It is not for nothing that many people feel flat after a few hours in the wellness area. Wellness has to be done right - physical overload should not be the goal.
